About
Welcome to The Spinnaker, a delightful gem nestled along the picturesque waterfront of Sausalito, California. This charming establishment specializes in breakfast and brunch desserts, but its appeal stretches far beyond those first fleeting morning hours.
As you step into The Spinnaker, you are greeted by stunning views of the bay, making it the perfect backdrop for a meal with friends or a relaxing day out with family. The restaurant is fully equipped to cater to various preferences, boasting vegan options and amenities that ensure all guests feel welcome, from wheelchair accessibility to outdoor seating designed for enjoying the serene ambiance.
From the moment you sit down, you’re enveloped in a classy yet casual atmosphere. Guests have the option to arrive for walk-ins, though I highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you’re aiming for one of the coveted window seats that overlook the breathtaking water views.
The menu at The Spinnaker features an array of delectable dishes that go beyond typical brunch fare. The highlight for many patrons has been the Sausalito Sunset cocktail—sweet and refreshing, it’s a delightful accompaniment that sets the tone for your meal. Starters like the fried calamari have earned rave reviews for their golden-brown perfection. Mains such as the fish and chips and cob salad are substantial portions, ensuring that no one leaves hungry.
However, don’t overlook the fabulous breakfast desserts, which truly hint at the restaurant’s name. The fusion of elegance and flavor in these dishes mirrors the calm of the bay—perfect for a charming start or a sweet finish to your dining experience.
While some diners, like Gerald C., felt that certain menu items like the crab cakes could use a little improvement, others like Nel S. rave about the exceptional service and ambiance. The sentiment is echoed in Mia C.’s glowing review about the lovely decor and their delightful experience by the window. Just make sure to save room for dessert on your next visit!
In essence, The Spinnaker is more than just a dining destination—it's an experience where delectable food meets stunning surroundings. With generous portions, engaging service, and the idyllic backdrop of Sausalito, it's a must-visit for anyone in search of good food and great memories. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch or an elegant dinner, you’re bound to have a memorable outing.
So, the next time you find yourself along the beautiful Sausalito waterfront, make a stop at The Spinnaker—you won’t regret it!
“ Great views, good staff, so-so food. Nice place to dine with the seagulls at a distance. Fortunately the prices are nice for a view like this. Waiter gave us a couple options of window tables to choose from, though best advice is to get a reservation or come earlier for best seating. Bread and butter was good, but I can't say too much about the crab cakes or cioppini (they call it boullaboise or something). Parking is free in front though the lot does get quite full. ”
“ came here for lunch yesterday with friends from out of town - this is our first time here and did not disappoint we got a table by the window overlooking the water and the decor is lovely we all started off with a cocktail (I had the Sausalito Sunset and it taste like fruit juice yummy) and shared two orders of the fried calamari (golden brown perfection a d deliciousness) husband and I both ordered the fish and chips (wish it came with malt vinegar) and shared the soup of the day (crab bisque was a tad on the salty side but good) the mains are huge and I can't finish mine (hubby more than willing to help lol) the five of us were so stuffed we skipped dessert ”
“ The Spinnaker is a gorgeous location on the water with exceptional service. We were seated right away at lunch despite not having a reservation at a lovely table near the water. Ordered some champagne to have with bread as an appetizer, and for dinner the cob salad and salmon filet were delicious. I highly recommend checking out this restaurant and we will certainly be back in the future! ”
“ Came by with a friend for lunch when we were exploring the cute little town of Sausalito. You can park here for a flat fee which we did for the afternoon. The restaurant is right on the water so it's got a beautiful view, outside and inside. There's a small bar and lots of seating inside. The tables are nicely spaced apart, you don't feel cramped at all. I ordered the Sausalito Summertime Salad. It's a salad packed with a sampler of seafood... prawns, halibut, salmon, and scallop. A little of everything! I really loved it and would highly recommend. It's pricey but it's also reasonable given the amount of seafood and the large salad portion. Great spot to grab some grub while you're in the area. Good service too! ”
“ Amazing amazing place. The view is to die for. It's right next to the ferry station. We ate their specials. The sea bass was delicious. The paleo was great. I loved the clam chowder and the shrimp salad. ”
“ Oyster Rockefeller 5 baked with Spinach, Brandy, Cream & Bread Crumbs, creamy, flavorful Crab Cakes 3 super small, too much flour, not enough crab meat Clam Chowder 5 creamy, chewy chunks of clams, not too much potato, medium thickness, flavorful Angel Hair with Rock Shrimp, Bay Scallops & Clams 4 Garlic, Onions, Sundried Tomato, Buerre Blanc, abundant seafood, light, lemony flavor Service 3 very slow service, appetizers take a long time to arrive, takes 20min to get the bill Ambiance 4 great view of SF ”
“ Excellent bay views! You might be lucky to spot a sea lion or harbor porpoise swim by. Arrive early for window seating. Service is good. The dungeness crab & avocado is sublime. Highly recommend. Most fish entrees are delicious. The tri color mousse torte is rich & not overly sweet. ”
“ A family member was in town for a short trip and we wanted to take him to a nice restaurant with good food. The Spinnaker resides in Sausalito which made for a nice drive to and from the restaurant. Our reservation was for a large party at 1PM. They seated us immediately. Our table offered an excellent view of the City of San Francisco. It was a warm, sunny day, making visibility 100%. Everyone loved seeing the water, the birds that occasionally flew by and the boats that were sailing. Our server was excellent. She was friendly & personable. She got all of our orders right and drinks were constantly topped off. With how big our group was and how much we ordered, she did a fabulous job of remembering everything. The food was fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers and their entrees. They have a vast dessert menu so remember to save some space! The Spinnaker offers self parking OR valet for tips. We opted to valet, but the parking lot is decently sized and parking can be found relatively easily. Pricing was high, but what isn't these days. Thank you for a good lunch, we'll be back! ”
“ I first came here with my aunt when I was younger in the 90s and had my first Cesar salad. My sister was married here years ago and I have a lot of memories going here. The food is mostly California style cuisine and seafood and some Italian style. It does have a feel for older locals to visit but I think it's a great choice for a seafood meal with fabulous views of the bay and San Francisco. You can see the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. Service is professional and courteous. Today we tried the crab salad with avocados and a grilled artichoke appetizer. Both excellent! I tried the sailor plate that was basically an elevated fish and chips with shrimp, calamari and scallops. My wife had the petrale sole it was the best dish. It is debatable if this should be 4 or 5 stars but I think it's 5 from my memories and the quality of the food in a nice location. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Sausalito. It's right near the ferry stop so people visiting for the day can easily get there. ”
